Production of laminated veneer lumber

Production of laminated veneer lumber

Sawing lumber into boards and rejection
The production of laminated veneer lumber begins with sawing timber into required size boards. After cutting the boards, they are rejected and sorted. The planks meeting the requirements of GOST and our specifications are allowed for further processing.
Drying selected material in convection-type drying chambers.
At this stage of the production chain, selected natural moisture planks are supplied to drying chambers for drying to 10-12% moisture. Cut-off boards are dried in offline mode according to the set program under the strict guidance of our technologist. The wood drying process takes 7-10 days.
Сross-cutting of planks for the length of no more than 1.5 m. to let off internal pressure in the plank.
At this stage of timber production, on a trimming machine, the planks are cut to a length of no more than 1.5 meters, as well as all defects unacceptable for further production are cut out.
Sizing of planks blanks to obtain the required geometry for further processing.
  Cutting «finger-jointed» for further splicing.
On the blanks of planks for lamellas, are cut spikes from 2 sides, for further splicing (gluing) along the length.
Splicing along the length on «finger-jointed» into planks (lamellas) on the lines of front-end splice.
Glue is applied to the cut spikes. Then they are put into a press for gluing into a lamella.
  Sizing on four-side milling machines.
The prepared lamellas are fed to the next 4-sided machine designed for gouging and sizing of the lamellas for further gluing of the timber.
Gluing of timber on special hydraulic presses
The planed and calibrated lamellas are evenly coated with glue and fed to the press. At the outlet from the press we get glued timber.

For gluing lamellas and timber we use Akzo-Nobel glue, EPI system with hardener, according to the international JAS standard. The bonding quality meet the international standard DIN EN 204, the water resistance class is D4. When gluing into a single timber, the direction of the wood fibers in the lamellas is set in opposite directions from each other. Through this, glued laminated timber becomes more durable than usual, and when humidity changes, it does not change its shape, that is, it «does not reel». There can be from 2 to 5 glued lamellas, that makes it possible to make glued laminated timber with a maximum thickness of up to 260 mm, and the length reaches 9 m.
Profiling of a timber on four-sided machines.
This is one of the most crucial moments in manufacturing of laminated veneer lumber. The quality of the whole timber and, ultimately, the quality of the future house depends on the accuracy of the groove-ridge connection. The profile of the timber developed by our specialists excludes blowing and ingress of moisture into the wall of the house. The final gouging and sizing makes the surface of the timber almost furniture-quality.
Cutting of cups, drilling of holes for pins and inner cable channels is carried out on a machine with an automatic feed Krusi CMI 4x4 NC.
The process of cutting cups begins in the design department, where the designer creates a constructional project of a house from timber in accordance with the approved draft design of the house. It is also taken into account where the cups will be cut according to the axes of the walls, joining of timber in half-cups takes place, the pins and inner cable channels are placed. The prepared file is transferred to the machine for further cutting optimization. The cutting optimization program disposes the maximum number of parts for a given timber length. This operation allows you to reduce the waste of the timber. Further, the house is cut from timber in automatic mode. Each cut piece of a house from a timber is marked according to assembly drawings.

Glued laminated timber houses – are a new word in wooden housing construction. Glued from dried up to 10-12% moisture, planed and sorted parts of coniferous wood, it combines environmental friendliness with high strength and durability, and significantly surpasses traditional building materials in technical characteristics. Experience and professionalism of our specialists allows us to satisfy any needs of our customers: from inexpensive houses made of laminated veneer lumber to country Finnish cottages.

The experience and professionalism of our specialists allows us to satisfy any needs of our customers: from inexpensive houses made of glued beam to country cottages;Finnish cottages.

Houses made of laminated veneer lumber are almost not subject to shrinkage (because all parts of the structure are glued together in different directions), this material almost no cracks.

Accuracy of adhesion of materials to each other allows increasing the thermal insulation performance of a house made of laminated veneer lumber and perfectly meets the temperature requirements of regions with cold climates.
